In the recent activity we did in class I feel that my biggest takeaway was how to straighten out my thoughts. I started off the activity really nervous, since the two questions we had to respond to were two topics I avoid, the first one felt like I was bragging, and the second breached my aversion to opening up about things I’m not confident about. The questions we had to respond to in class were pretty personal, and along with that comes a lot of baggage that can cloud judgement. Being able to cycle through all the chairs helped me practice how to break down the stream of thoughts and understand them in different viewpoints. I noticed that this was easier to rationalize someone else’s thoughts, and as the speaker, being able to hear others break down these emotions into comprehensible pieces helped me calm down a lot. I was even able to bond with some people over similarities. Coming out of the activity, I feel a lot more comfortable with sharing and rationalizing my thoughts and I gained a greater understanding of how to manage my thought processes.
